Incorporating Mental Health into Existing ROP Courses through Training and Curricula Development

San Bernardino County Department of Behavioral Health joined forces with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools Regional Occupational Program (ROP) to create training for ROP teachers regarding behavioral health related topics. The training provided an overview of the diverse behavioral health program as well as gain first-hand experience through job-shadowing. As a result of these trainings, the teachers developed two sets of lesson plans, “Behavioral Health Career Pathways” and “Understanding the Foundation of Behavioral Health,” to expose their health science ROP students to behavioral health. The lesson plans will be available statewide through CTE online.
