Standards-Based Curriculum
The Common Core State Standards (CCSS); College and Career Readiness standards (CCR), developed under the auspices of the National Governor's Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers, will be introduced and discussed at this session. Aimed at preparing America's students to be globally competitive the CCSS-CCR were developed through an international benchmarking process comparing what America's students are taught with those in countries whose students are graduating in greater numbers and scoring better on international testing. A working part of the session will be to discuss how California's Industry Sector and Pathway Standards align with and enhance the CCSS-CCR and consider revisions that might be needed for the CTE standards and Framework to strengthen the alignment.
